When we think of what the New Testament says about wealth, we often remember the passages that call for someone to sell all they have. We then note that the earliest church thought the end was coming soon and so dismiss such ideas as impractical for a church that does not expect the end to come so soon. But the New Testament has much more to say about our relationship to our possessions. This webinar will look at that wider picture and at how it calls for an economic ethic that involves the whole of our faith and that helps us integrate our faith into the whole of our lives
Dr. Jerry Sumney is Professor of Biblical Studies at LTS (since 1997). His books include The Politics of Faith: The Bible, Government, and Public Policy; The Bible: An Introduction; and Paul: Apostle and Fellow Traveler. In addition to writing numerous articles and books, Jerry frequently has led workshops for elders and deacons, and Bible study workshops and series, including in the Lay School of Theology at LTS. Jerry has been an elder at his home church, Central Christian Church, Lexington, KY, and he is the regular teacher of an adult Sunday School Class there.
