Fall Lay School of Theology | “Is A Migrant My Neighbor?—The Christian Churches’ Response”
Currently many social and political tensions arise around the treatment of non-citizens In the U.S. In this interactive Zoom Session, we inquire into the Old Testament theme of “migrant” or “stranger,” and the meaning of “neighbor” in the New Testament. We discuss the accuracy of some claims about US migrants, and share the Gospel response of various Churches to this concern.
Bio: Jean Ponder Soto is a native and current resident of the El Paso TX. She received her PH.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley Ca. She teaches for Santa Clara University, Lexington Theological Seminary School of Catholic Studies, and Tepeyac Institute for Lay Formation. She is the mother of four grown daughters and ten grandchildren.
